The brochure is a staple in marketing. A well-designed brochure can be used to educate prospects and customers, offer information about your services and products, and get potential customers to take the next step toward becoming a customer.
Of course, not all brochures are well designed. In fact, many of them are flat out terrible.
The good news is you can avoid having a bad brochure if you just don’t make these mistakes.
- Using stock images—Don’t use generic, stock photos in your brochure. Other companies use those same photos, and they make your brochure blend in with the crowd. Make sure brochure really pop with custom illustrations and photos.
- Cramming too much into a single brochure—Your brochure is going to be small enough that someone can hold it in their hand. You don’t have a lot of room to work with. Don’t use too many images and try to cram in too much information in your brochure. Leave some space for your copy and design to breathe.
- Going black and white—Yes, it’s cheaper to print black and white brochures than full color brochures, but cheaper isn’t better in this case. You don’t want your company to look cheap and unprofessional. Spring for color prints.
